3D Nipple Tattoo Training at the International Institute of Medical Tattoo Science and Artistry

The International Institute of Medical Tattoo Science and Artistry offers professional 3D nipple tattoo training and areola reconstruction certification at our St. Petersburg, Florida campus. Founded by Bianca Cypser, an actively practicing paramedical tattoo artist with hundreds of documented cases in areola micropigmentation, the school provides comprehensive certification in one of the most emotionally meaningful specialties in paramedical tattoo work.
3D nipple tattooing, also known as areola reconstruction, areola repigmentation, areola micropigmentation, and 3D areola restoration, is the art of creating a realistic, hyper-realistic, three-dimensional-looking areola nipple complex on a flat reconstructed breast through advanced shading, highlight, depth, and color blending techniques. For breast cancer survivors, post-mastectomy clients, and top surgery clients, this is often the final step of reconstruction and the moment they finally feel whole again.

Why Train in 3D Nipple Tattooing With IIMTSA
Most 3D nipple tattoo training programs are taught by instructors who completed their own training years ago and stopped seeing real clients. Our program is different. Bianca Cypser still works with real breast cancer survivors, post-mastectomy clients, and post-top-surgery clients every single week at her active practice, Imagine You New, located at the same address as the school. Students train alongside a teacher who is still doing the work, still building case studies, still refining technique, and still pushing the field forward.
IIMTSA also offers small class sizes for personalized hands-on instruction. Our students are not lost in a crowd. Each cohort is intentionally limited so every student receives direct one-on-one mentorship from Bianca.

Who Can Take This Training
This 3D nipple tattoo training welcomes plastic surgeons, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, oncology nurses, medical providers, permanent makeup artists, microblading artists, cosmetic tattoo artists, licensed estheticians, and beginners. Students come from across Florida and the country to train with Bianca Cypser. No prior tattoo experience is required.

What Students Learn in 3D Nipple Tattoo Training
Areola and nipple anatomy. Hyper-realistic 3D shading techniques for depth, shape, and texture. Pigment mixing and custom color matching for every skin tone. Color theory for compromised tissue and reconstructed skin. Working on reconstructed nipples versus flat skin grafts. Treatment of TRAM, DIEP, implant-based, and tissue expander reconstructions. Post-mastectomy nipple tattooing protocols. Top surgery and gender-affirming nipple tattoo work. Areola reconstruction for vitiligo and skin discoloration. Skin physiology and scar tissue management. Trauma-informed clinical care. Insurance billing under the Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act. How to work as an out-of-network provider. Business implementation, pricing strategy, and how to charge $400 to $900 plus per areola tattoo session. Photography and case documentation for portfolio building. Aftercare protocols for Florida humidity and climate.

What Students Practice On During Training
Training includes hands-on practice on synthetic skin, breast molds, and a variety of supervised live client cases scheduled during each cohort. Real client cases typically include 3D areola reconstruction work, scar camouflage on breast lift, tummy tuck, mommy makeover, C-section, and facelift scars, stretch mark camouflage, color matching for compromised skin, and corrections of previous areola tattoo work.
Live client availability changes from cohort to cohort because real clients have real lives. We work hard to schedule a wide variety of cases during every training week, but we cannot guarantee a specific case type during a specific cohort. What we can guarantee is substantial hands-on practice on synthetic skin and breast molds, the live cases available during the training week, plus lifetime mentorship after graduation. Many students book their first 3D areola or nipple tattoo client within their first 60 days post-certification and submit it for personalized case review.
What Makes a Great Areola Tattoo Artist
Becoming a great areola tattoo artist requires more than technique. It requires understanding breast anatomy, understanding reconstruction surgery types, understanding the emotional weight of the work, mastery of pigment and color, patience with healing timelines, and the ability to support clients through what is often the most emotional appointment of their reconstruction journey. Bianca trains all of this, not just the tattooing.
Pre-Requisites and Bloodborne Pathogens Certification
No prior tattoo or permanent makeup experience is required to enroll. Students need a current Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) certification before in-person training. BBP certifications are widely available through the American Red Cross and online certification providers.

The full paramedical tattoo certification course is 7500 dollars and includes pre-study materials, hands-on training in St. Petersburg, comprehensive certification covering 3D nipple tattoo work, areola reconstruction, scar camouflage, stretch mark camouflage, and all paramedical tattoo specialties, plus lifetime mentorship after graduation. Frequently Asked Questions

What is 3D nipple tattooing?
3D nipple tattooing, also called areola reconstruction, areola repigmentation, or areola micropigmentation, is a specialized paramedical tattoo technique that uses pigment, shading, and highlights to create the illusion of a realistic, three-dimensional areola and nipple on a flat reconstructed breast.

Who is 3D nipple tattooing for?
3D nipple tattooing is for breast cancer survivors after mastectomy and reconstruction, top surgery clients after gender-affirming chest reconstruction, post-breast-revision clients, and anyone with damaged, faded, or absent areolas due to surgery, injury, or skin conditions like vitiligo.

Do I need to be a licensed tattoo artist to enroll in this training?
No prior tattoo experience is required to enroll.
